03-09-2024It came compressed and expanded nicely and quickly. It is thick and heavy. The outer cover is thick corduroy.It is comfortable for sitting. Sleeping was not as comfortable due to the deep indentations.Will have to purchase an additional thick mattress cover to even out the surface area for sleeping.I did Not detect any smells.It was actually as thick as stated and is almost too thick for the metal futon base. Overall good quality and thick. Color is a darker shade of gray.

03-09-2024I will admit I was a bit worried by this purchase since there are very few reviews. But this is actually a great futon mattress. It is very comfortable on a metal frame (even as a 240lb man). Filling is not what you expect from a futon. No cotton padding to get matted down or separated over time. Definitely would recommend this to anyone needing a mattress replacement.
