I had my Shark vacuum for several years, but it got ruined due to water damage. I purchased another Shark vacuum since I loved my old one so much, but it broke within a couple weeks. Thinking it was a fluke, I purchased another one and that ALSO broke within 2 months. I have four cats and foster kittens in a mostly carpeted home, so I NEED a vacuum.I thought I'd try something different and opted for this one, and by golly it works! It's been about 6 months since eI bought this vacuum and I've had no problems. It's obviously bulkier than the traditional upright vacuums, but it didn't take much to look past that. What I like:-adjustable suction power-the tools are useful-since it's bagged, minimal dust escapes back into the air-light for a canister vacuum-it doesn't clog easily-there are FOUR height settings for the brush rollersWhat I don't like:-the plastic panels keeping the tools in is flimsy-this might just be me, but it's not the easiest to take apart and clean-it does fine on hardwood. It's not amazing, but it picks up enough that I'm satisfiedIt works, it keeps up with the gaggle of cats and all their shenanigans in my home, and it's great at trapping dust. Overall, it was definitely worth it.
I just opened the box, briefly reviewed instructions, and found it east to put it together. It is a heavy vacuum for me but the power driven vacuum head makes it lightweight. The suction power on carpet is impressive. The tools are inside the case so I won't loose them like I did with other vacuums. Love the retractible cord. I have had Eureka (great vacuum), Dyson, Shark, Bissel, Hoover, and this one stands out above the majority. My hope is that I will continue to like this vacuum over a period of time.
So I LOVE Kenmore vacuums because of their reliability and they get the job done right! I've had at least 4 - which says a lot because it's the only brand I've owned in my 75 years. We have established they last, they have great suction and a variety of tool attachments. This one is bigger, heavier and more tricky to get parts together (and no it's not due to my age!). So I'm a manual reader (you guessed it, I'm not a man LOL) so the first thing I did after reading it was check everything out -open every nook and cranny. Don't check the rear filter! I spent over an hour trying to get it back in. Once I removed the filter to check it out and tried to replace it I could not get the cover to stay on. Each time I turned on the vacuum, it blew it across the room with rocket force (luckily this didn't break the cover). I could replace the cover easily without installing the filter - I eventually had to put the whole canister on the hose end and use my entire body weight to get that cover back in place. One thing's for sure it has a TIGHT seal - the next time I think that needs replacing, I'll be inviting a man over - hopefully he'll be stronger. My second displeasure is that having the floor attachment fit into the rug attachment makes it heavier & less manageable - it is wider than previous models I've had and doesn't fit under some furniture due to it's increased height. The crevice nozzle attaches under the handle (instead of being inside the canister with other tools) and it requires a extra firm yank to remove it and a study wack to reattach it. It has a few more bells & whistles than I've had in the past, but I'm not overly convinced yet they are worth the extra $$$. For instance, the dirt sensor comes on if it senses there is still something bouncing around in front of it - it's come on a couple times, but not in the high traffic areas where you would expect it- so am I convinced it's reliable? The slide button on the handle that changes it from floor to carpet moves too easily down to the carpet setting and the suction adjustment just below that is easily changed without meaning to if you grab that area to move the whole wand. Where the hose goes into the canister is not as smooth a fit and likewise the handle of that hose into the pole attached to the floor attachments. The floor light on the wand only comes one when using the carpet selection and isn't as bright or cover as much area as my previous model that had the light on a separate rug attachment. The suction is as good as they make and I do care about how well it cleans, so it will remain with me. It does have a longer cord, a fan cleaning brush, an indicator light for when the bag is full. But be prepared for a bigger, less mobile, heavier machine - if you're frail, can't lift 30 lbs easily and you're not a bit mechanical: look for something else. If you just want clean and have the extra bucks, you'll like this one. And it's such a girlie color...don't you hate reviews that just tell you about the color?
